Rocket and Balloon Experiments for University Students

Allowing university students across Europe to carry out scientific and technological experiments on research rockets and balloons.

REXUS/BEXUS

The REXUS/BEXUS program is a Swedish-German educational sounding rocket program for university students, providing access to microgravity for the students’ experiments. The program allows students from universities and higher education colleges across Europe to carry out scientific and technological experiments on research rockets and balloons, and is realized under a bilateral Agency Agreement between the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Swedish National Space Agency (SNSA). The Swedish share of the payload has been made available to students from other European countries through a collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA).

High school students program

EXPLORA is a STEAM program that enables high school students across Sweden to engage in a complete project life-cycle, from initial concept development to the launch of a weather balloon and the presentation of scientific results. EXPLORA is also about international collaboration.

The annual call for participation is open from June to October 15. Selected teams receive technical support from SSC Space throughout the program. All launches are conducted each year at Esrange Space Center, usually in May.

EXPLORA is a national initiative funded by the Swedish National Space Agency (SNSA).
